Many long-haired pooches are sporting their summer cuts during these dog days of summer, which is a good way to keep your pooch from overheating.  Don't forget though, that long haired pooches with short doos are suceptible to sunburn.  Here are a few things to remember. Although possibly cooler, you pooch will now be more susceptible to sunburn, so stay out of the sun during peak hours (11 am through 3 pm) (not bad advice for us humans too). Keep fresh water handy during any outdoor activity. Avoid walking on blacktop becuase it heats up quickly and retains heat.  What may be merely uncomfortable for us may be unbearable for our best pals.  And, NEVER, EVER leave your pooch in a vehicle in the summer time, even if you'r parked in the shade and have the windows open.  What may be comfortable when you leave will quickly become unbearable and could leave to you pooches unintended death...all for a quick stop at the mall.
